上の写真はロイターが8/5に報じたベイルートの写真。これがPhotoshopで加工してんじゃないのか？ってことでブログ界が大騒ぎになった。どう加工されているかってことは、

結局、ロイターはこのブログ攻撃のせいで写真を引き上げ、写真を提供した自社カメラマンを停職処分にせざるを得なくなった。この人、他にも現地からたくさんの写真を送っているようで、それらも疑われるんだろうねえ。で、8/6時点でロイターはこれが本物ということで別写真に差し替えている。

ロイター自身の顛末報告記事が出た。2000を超える読者の抗議メールがあったらしい。
Reuters withdraws all photos by freelancer | Top News | Reuters.com:カメラマンはAdnan Hajjという人なんですが、本人は写真のゴミを除去しようとして、そうなったと言ったらしい。このあたり、読者のThe News Roomというフィードバックコーナーの方が詳しく書かれている。
Hajj was not in Beirut on Monday and was not responding to calls. He told Reuters on Sunday that the image of the Israeli air strike on Beirut had dust marks which he had wanted to remove.
The Good, the Bad & the Ugly | Reuters.com:うーん、きびしいツッコミ。実際、HajjはF-16の飛行シーンでもフレアーの数を1から3に増やす加工を行っていたことわかり、その写真も掲載されているが、彼が撮った920枚全部がウソ写真を意味するわけではないと苦しい弁明（7/12以降、Hajjが直接DBに登録した43枚のうちの2枚だと）。
Remove dust marks? (By cloning clouds?) Bad lighting? (from LCD monitors that are best viewed in the dark?) Why print such lame excuses when you should just say you were duped, willing or otherwise. Please do a back check on all the stringer's photos and reprint all the other faked photos.

ゴミを除去？(雲のクローンすることで？) 照明がひどい？(暗がりで見るのが最適である液晶モニターで？) 騙されたと言うべき時に何故そん な愚か者の言い訳を掲載するんだ？わざとか？それとも他に何か？お願いだから、特約記者全部の写真をチェックし直して、偽写真を再掲載してくれ。
うんざりだ。
今ちょっと思ったのだが、2000通の抗議メールでロイターがこれだけ慌ててるのに、先日のボクシングの件での6万を超える抗議へのTBSの態度は判定の是非に関係なく、説明責任という意味で「問題外」という気がするな。
