モバイルIntel Mac「MacBook Pro」の廉価版「MacBook」がもうすぐ（2ヶ月以内）出るゾという記事。CPUにCore Duoではなくて、Mac miniに搭載したCore Solo processorを採用するらしく、$1,099 と$1,399の2モデルが設定されるとの噂。スクリーンは13.3インチWXGA(1280*720)。合わせてさらに明るい17インチ液晶搭載のハイエンド版（あのOLPCをデザインしたQuanta製で、CPUはCore Duo）も出るとか。

April 7, 2006 - Apple has begun manufacturing its new MacBook and should have the laptop in consumer hands in the next 30-60 days, sources report. The MacBook—and it will indeed be called the MacBook, sources have confirmed, as Apple will be dropping the iBook moniker—is being built exclusively around a 13.3-inch widescreen display with a 1280x720 WXGA resolution, as previously reported.
この記事によれば、14-inch iBook G4はすぐに廃止され、12-inch iBook G4は少しの間だけ販売が延長されるようだ。去年の12月に報じられた時はOS X 10.4.4と書いてあるが、OS X 10.4.6で出るんでしょうな。
Boot CampでWindows XPとデュアルブートできるから、Apple嫌いでない限りはVAIOとか普通のWindowsノートを買う利点はほとんど無くなる。ノートPCのシェアは劇的に塗り替えられるだろう。家電メーカーはまたしてもAppleにしてやられる....ということになるが、iPodの時とは違って今回ばかりは少し同情する。だって真似したくてもできないからねえ。

Apple Insiderによれば、今月末らしい。それと、1.67GHz Core Duoで、Mac MiniみたいにCore Soloではないと報じている。"It's almost official"と言っているから、こちらが正解？
