OK, so Google bought SketchUp. We told you all about it in the last SketchUpdate, but that's old news now. It's time for the rest of the story.
有償版である、SketchUp Pro 5は引き続き販売され、無償版とは以下の違いがある。
- 最も重要な点。無償版では商用利用はできない
- 高解像度でのラスタイメージの印刷とエクスポートができる
- DWG, DXF, 3DS, OBJ, XSI, VRML および FBXフォーマットでエクスポートできる
- アニメーションやウォークスルーをQuickTime(mov)またはWindows(avi)でエクスポートできる
- オーガニックモデリング用のサンドボックス・ツールとフィルム＆ステージ・ツールが使える
- メールによる2年間のテクニカル・サポートがついている
- Google Earthに置くための3D Graphicsを作ることができる（via Google Blog）

Google SketchUp is an easy-to-learn 3D modeling program. Using a few simple tools you can create 3D models of houses, sheds, decks, home additions, woodworking projects-even space ships. You can add details, textures and glass to your models, and design with dimensional accuracy. Once built, you can place your models in Google Earth, share them with others by posting them to the 3D Warehouse, or print hard copies. Google SketchUp is a great way to discover if 3D modeling is right for you.
Google Blogにも後追いで掲載された模様。こっちは有償版の宣伝色が強い。3D Warehouseには、自作の3D Graphicsがたくさんアップロードされていて、人気順に見たり、「Search 3D Warehouse」で検索できたりできる。
